Celtic were once again involved in VAR controversy when a penalty was given against Matt O'Riley for a handball in the match against Ross County on Saturday.

The midfielder was adjudged to have committed the offence just in the box and referee David Munro pointed to the spot.

The decision was checked by video assistant official Euan Anderson and he confirmed the original call.

It led to Ross County taking the lead before goals from David Turnbull and Sead Haksabanovic secured all three points for the home side.

However, it was an incident that caused much discussion among pundits.

Here is a round-up of what some of the broadcasters that were covering the game thought about the spot-kick...

Michael Stewart

"Where do you start? Horrific. That could be the worst. For the referee to give it in the first place is an absolute disgrace.

“For it to go to VAR and say that is the right call. It is that ridiculous.

“We must be playing a different sport here. He is a foot away from the ball, it ricochets up and hits his elbow, which is at his side!

“It is ludicrous. Those two instances at Celtic Park in a couple of weeks are two of the worst decisions you will ever see."

Tom Boyd

"His hands aren't at his side, are his hands close enough to his body for that not to be a penalty kick?"

"If Michael Smith's is not a penalty from the referee in that game then that is not a penalty. There are inconsistencies from referees.

"How people can say Michael Smith's [decision not given against Hearts earlier this month] is not a penalty and give that. Where's the consistency? The consistency is it's a decision against Celtic."

Richard Foster

"[VAR] is not splitting opinion on that decision. That one is particularly bad. It's even worse that it wasn't called back because of VAR, it was given by the referee.

"I mean, I don't know what he thinks O'Riley can do there. Where is his arm meant to go?

"[It's a] horrible, horrible decision. Celtic are lucky it didn't cost them any points."
