Celtic's Champions League rivals RB Leipzig have been rocked by reports that star striker Christopher Nkunku held a 'secret' medical with Chelsea.

This is according to German outlet BILD, which has claimed the forward met with the Premier League club to undergo medical tests ahead of a proposed move next summer.

The Hoops face last season's Bundesliga runners-up in a group stage double-header which will likely decide whether Ange Postecoglou's men will be competing in Europe's premier competition after Christmas or not.

The reports will not be welcome news for new manager Marco Rose as he attempts to get their qualification chances back on track after back-to-back defeats in the team's opening two fixtures in the tournament.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has also added further details to the links.

He tweeted: "Christopher Nkunku had a medical with Chelsea, confirmed by Bild.

"Chelsea sent [a] long-term contract bid to Nkunku to prepare the deal for 2023.

"It’s not done yet, as Chelsea and RB Leipzig will speak about fee: €60m release clause, or [a] different deal structure."

The forward scored 35 goals and provided 20 assists for the club last season and has netted six goals already this campaign in just 11 games.
