Celtic are set to take on Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, as Brendan Rodgers looks to make it three wins on the bounce in the Scottish Premiership.

He and his side return to the place where they suffered their only domestic defeat of the season, a 1-0 League Cup defeat to Derek McInnes' side in August. They come in good form, scoring seven goals in two comfortable wins over St Johnstone and Hibernian, whilst Kilmarnock won 1-0 against Aberdeen in midweek away at Pittodrie.

Rodgers will certainly not admit it, but revenge may be on the cards for Celtic at Rugby Park this weekend.

Easily the most frustrating game and result since the manager returned to the club, the League Cup exit back in August was a tremendous disappointment so early on in the season for him and his new side. With that being said, Celtic looked reinvigorated during the week against Hibs, putting on the style in their 4-1 win over the Edinburgh side. Changes were made, and most of those changes were in turn vindicated, thanks to impressive individual performances on the night.

With that in mind, you would imagine that Rodgers will not want to change too much, given the many positives in midweek. Joe Hart will continue in goals, having made a couple of decent saves last time out at home. He could do nothing about Christian Doidge's strike from close range, so no glaring issues to mention regarding his inclusion this weekend. The centre of defence is where things get interesting, as Cameron Carter-Vickers was substituted at half-time due to precautionary measures concerning his hamstring. The American is arguably the most important in the team - especially defensively - and the plastic pitch is problematic, so the risk is simply not worth it. For that reason, it will be Nat Phillips and Liam Scales in the centre, with Alistair Johnston and Greg Taylor on either side of the pair. Johnston - particularly over the last two games - has returned to form in a big way, so his inclusion is effectively cemented ahead of Anthony Ralston. Taylor was good on Wednesday, but the question marks remain over his long-term future as Celtic's starting right-back.

The midfield trio was heralded by the masses on Wednesday night, with praise going to all three starters in the middle of the park. For that reason, Rodgers will elect to keep the status quo and deploy Tomoki Iwata as the deepest midfielder, with captain Callum McGregor and Matt O'Riley playing in the six and ten roles respectively. The skipper in particular looked like he had a new lease of life about him in midweek as he put in another "retro" performance for the manager he knows so well. This was perhaps due to the presence of Iwata, who sat just in front of the defenders as an anchor. Following a solid performance from him - as well as the usual from the usual by O'Riley - all three will continue their blossoming partnership in Celtic's midfield.

After netting a brace on Wednesday, Oh Hyeon-gyu surely must be in line for a second consecutive start ahead of Kyogo Furuhashi. A sentence that still sounds a tad blasphemous, the South Korea international has really caught the eye over the past couple of games and deserves to be starting over Celtic's top striker, who has admittedly been the opposite. His two goals last time out should ensure that he will get the nod over his potential Asia Cup rival. Supporting Oh will be Luis Palma, who will be hoping to add more goals and assists to his growing portfolio. 12 goals and assists in December is an incredible return for someone still getting used to his new surroundings. Mikey Johnston was publicly called out by his manager due to his mixed performance at Celtic Park and will need to do more to nail down a starting spot, especially with the likes of Daizen Maeda and Liel Abada edging closer to their collective returns. Despite this, I reckon Rodgers will stick with Johnston for this one, though he will hope that he gets more of a McDiarmid Park than Celtic Park showing from the 24-year-old.

If it ain't broke then don't fix it.

Celtic were outstanding against Hibernian during Wednesday's 4-1 Scottish Premiership routing of the capital club at Celtic Park. Rodgers' men established an early superiority and they never looked like relinquishing their grip on the contest once Oh had given them the lead.

This Sunday presents an entirely different challenge and it is a return to the scene of the first domestic crime this season. You don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to deduce that, having failed to crack the Kilmarnock case in the League Cup back in August then the men in green and white certainly crave a redemption shot in the league. McInnes' men will prove stubborn opposition once again but Celtic rediscovered their mojo and swagger against Hibs and Rodgers will ask for more of the same.

The only dilemma the Northern Irishman will have is who will come in for Carter-Vickers who was taken off as a precaution after he felt his hamstring tighten in midweek. Hart will be in goal and it will be Johnston and Taylor in the left and right full-back berths. Carter Vickers if passed fit will be in the central defence alongside Scales. If Rodgers decides not to risk Carter-Vickers on the plastic surface then Phillips will get the nod.

In midfield, it will definitely be as you were after the impressive displays of the engine room trio of Iwata, McGregor and O'Riley. There was a poise and a balance about Celtic and the performance pleased the supporters no end.

Up front, Oh has earned a crack at starting his second game on the bounce in place of Kyogo and he will be ably assisted by Palma on the left.  Johnston did not set the heather alight on the right wing and his manager even implored him to do more. With that in mind then the 50-year-old may be tempted to turn to evergreen Forrest in a tweak to freshen things up.

Celtic will crack the case this time around and leave Rugby Park with all three points.

Tony's team: Hart; A. Johnston, Phillips, Scales, Taylor; Iwata, McGregor, O'Riley; Forrest, Oh, Palma.
