LIKE THE rollercoasters at theme parks, Celtic may wish to carry a health warning going into the final weeks of the season.

Those with heart conditions and elevated blood pressure issues may wish to think twice as they reach the stadium entry point. In recent weeks, Ange Postecglou’s side have fallen on the right side of the breaks at Tynecastle, Pittodrie and at Celtic Park with their support put through the mill in excruciating finales to games.

Having got themselves three points in front in a title race where there trailed by six points at the turn of the year, the momentum is all in Celtic’s favour. Yet there has been a resighting of the soft centre that was the club’s headache last season and at the start of the current campaign with a defensive anxiety around set-pieces particularly obvious; every one of the last four league goals that Celtic have conceded have come from a set-piece.

If it was impossible to underestimate the significance of the three points taken from Dundee on Sunday given what had happened at Tannadice, the see-saw nature of the performance will still give rise to a few concerns.

Postecoglou was dismissive before the game in a BBC Scotland radio interview where he was fairly unambiguous about the draw between Rangers and Dundee United but for 60,000 fans inside Celtic Park it was not a result that went unnoticed.

And while he is right to focus only on that which he can control it will be interesting to note just what effect the teams will have on one another when one kicks off earlier with an opportunity then to take an advantage.

As the road starts to run out in terms of the league campaign any slips become significant. Celtic have a fairly interesting league schedule in the coming weeks with away games to Hibs next Sunday and Livingston the following week sandwiched in between a home tie against St Mirren.

The positive, of course, from the weekend for Postecoglou would have been the hat-trick from Giorgios Giakoumakis. Strikers feed off confidence and the Greek forward will have been buoyed not just by the goals but the magnitude of them.

If it afforded Celtic a glimpse of the player who was the top scorer in the Eredivisie it may also suggest that there will not be a rush to get Kyogo Furuhashi back before he is fully match fit. Christopher Jullien may be another matter given the lack of conviction at the back.
