GIAKOUMAKIS THE POACHER CELTIC NEED

The Greek striker has officially arrived on the scene at Celtic. Giakoumakis netted a first-half double to turn the game on its head after Dundee had taken a shock lead. The striker has popped up with important goals this campaign and he appears to be hitting a bit of form at the top end of the park. Both his first-half strikes came from within the six-yard box, but he had to look alert to react and fire home into the back of the net. His third goal was a terrific headed effort, and his movement was also terrific. Giakoumakis’ overall link-up play was also impressive, and he could have netted more if the service had been better from his teammates.

SLOW STARTS NEED TO STOP

Celtic fell behind again early in the game against Dundee, just like they did on Thursday against Bodo/Glimt. Ange Postecoglou’s team have been fast starters for most of the season, but the past two games they have been slow out of the blocks. They did turn it around in quick time before Dundee levelled the contest, but against better opposition, the Hoops may find it tough to peg back their opponents. Ultimately, they ended up with the three points today and what a huge win it could prove to be in the Scottish Premiership title race.

LACKING IDEAS IN FINAL THIRD

Much like Thursday night Celtic struggled to create opportunities in the final third as they chased a result in the game. Jota and Maeda found themselves in decent positions on the flank, but the final ball was lacking at times. The absence of Kyogo Furuhashi is a big miss as he offers that touch of magic in the final third that is sometimes needed to cut open a stubborn defence. In fairness to Postecoglou’s side the winning goal was well worked and was finished off expertly by Giakoumakis.
