Former Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko is being linked with a move to MLS side Houston Dynamo.

This is according to a report by American journalist Tom Bogert who claims that the deal is currently being "finalised".

The Dane, who played a significant role in the first-half of the Hoops' Invincible domestic campaign in 2016-17, is currently on the books of FC Midtjylland in his homeland.

He rejoined them from the Parkhead side in 2018 after finding his game time limited during Brendan Rodgers' second season in charge.

Sviatchenko is the current captain of Midtjylland and featured in all six of their group stage matches in the Europa League this season.

Meanwhile, Hearts loanee Garang Kuol has opened up on the words he shared with Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou after a recent league meeting between the two sides.

The 18-year-old, who is currently on the books of the Jambos until the end of the season after signing for Newcastle last year, revealed the Parkhead manager gave his fellow Aussie some words of encouragement after the Hoops' 3-1 win in the Scottish Premiership.

Kuol admitted it was a "very good moment" speaking to the 57-year-old at full-time.

He told Australian outlet the Herald and the Age: "It was very brief ( the meeting between the two). He just said, ‘I hope you’re settling in well, and keep working hard.

"'I’m happy to see you’re working hard, and hopefully, you can keep doing well.’ It’s good for him to show that he cares about other Aussie players in the league, and that he’s there for them.

"It was a very good moment.”
