Ex-Celtic winger Niall McGinn has departed Dundee to join Northern Irish side Glentoran.

The 35-year-old, who played for the Hoops between 2008 and 2011, has signed for the club in his homeland as the move was confirmed on social media.

After moving to Aberdeen in 2012, McGinn remained at Pittodrie for five years before signing for South Korean side Gwanju FC.

However, it did not work out for the Northern Irishman in Asia as he returned to the Dons soon after, where he stayed until moving to Dundee just under a year ago.

Meanwhile, Celtic invincible Scott Sinclair looks set to stay at English League One side Bristol Rovers.

The 33-year-old, who played for the Hoops for three-and-a-half seasons between 2016 and 2020, signed a short-term deal with the club in the summer.

However, manager Joey Barton feels the Englishman is likely to sign an extension at the Memorial Stadium.

He said: "We are moving it on, I’ve spoken to Scotty and it’s moving.

"It doesn’t expire until January 23. It’s progressing nicely and I don’t think we are a million miles away, but you are until it’s signed.

"He’s had a few sniffs from people but from speaking to his agent and speaking to him directly, I think he’s really settled and he understands what we’re trying to do here.

"I think he knows he can be a really big player for us and I think he is enjoying his football."

After leaving the Hoops, Sinclair joined English Championship side Preston North End.

He played 85 times for the club, scoring 14 times and providing five assists before leaving over the summer.
