The A19 Trunk Road (Osmotherley Interchange To Tontine
Interchange) (Temporary Restriction And Prohibition Of Traffic)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A19 Trunk Road, in the District of Hambleton, to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on at 8pm on Thursday 11 August 2022 for 5 weeks, or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:
(i) impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A19 northbound carriageway from 11800 metres south of the A684 Osmotherley Interchange overbridge to the A172 Tontine Interchange overbridge, a distance of 3930 metres;

(ii) impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A19 southbound carriageway from 1520 metres north of Tontine Interchange overbridge to Osmotherley Interchange overbridge, a distance of 4270 metres;

(iii) impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A19 northbound and southbound exit and entry slip roads at Osmotherley Interchange and Tontine Interchange; and

(iv) close the layby adjacent to the A19 southbound carriageway approximately 250 metres north of Tontine Interchange overbridge.

It will also be necessary to, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, to:
(i) close the A19 northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Osmotherley Interchange to the entry slip road at Tontine Interchange, a distance of 2300 metres;

(ii) close the A19 southbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Tontine Interchange to the entry slip road at Osmotherley Interchange, a distance of 2050 metres;

(iii) close the A19 northbound entry and southbound exit slip roads at Osmotherley Interchange;

(iv) close the A19 northbound exit and southbound entry slip roads at Tontine Interchange; and

(v) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the A19 northbound carriageway at Stony Lane Junction.

During the closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available. Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). Access will be maintained at all times to premises and properties which are accessible from, and only from, the A19.
