CELTIC rounded off a superb title-winning league campaign with a 6-0 dismantling of Motherwell.

David Turnbull, Jota each found the net in addition to braces from Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis as the fans partied in the stands at a sunny Parkhead.

Ange Postecoglou made five changes to his starting XI for the game, with Kyogo, Jota, Turnbull and Daizen Maeda all returning to the team at the expense of Giakoumakis, Liel Abada, Reo Hatate and James Forrest.

Celtic Way:

Tom Rogic also claimed a starting berth on his Celtic farewell ahead of Matt O'Riley while Nir Bitton was given the final few minutes as he too bade goodbye after nine seasons.

Here, The Celtic Way highlights some of the key StatsBomb data from the game to give you a match report experience like no other.

xG/trendline

Celtic Way:

The trendline reflects a slow start to the game in terms of shots before Kyogo's opener prompting the demolition that came next.

StatsBomb has the final cumulative xG totals at 2.38-0.38 in Celtic's favour. The 86 per cent victory likelihood seems odd given the end result but is probably influenced by the fact Motherwell's best chance took place when it was just 1-0 to the Hoops.

Celtic Way:

The final goal of the game was also statistically the best chance; Giakoumakis's second carried an xG value of 0.62. In a clinical performance, Celtic's other five goals carried a combined 0.84 xG with Kyogo's opener a difficult 0.03.

Shots

Celtic Way:

Celtic had 16 attempts at goal. Thirteen of their shots were in the box - including all six goals - with eight coming in close, central areas.

The breakdown of the 16 efforts was as follows: eight were on target, four missed and four were blocked. Liam Kelly made two saves. Eleven attempts were created from open play including five of the six goals. The exception was Kyogo's opener which came from a corner.

Celtic Way:

Motherwell managed six attempts with Joseph Efford's 16th-minute effort their 'best' chance at 0.16 xG. Joe Hart saved that for his only stop of the afternoon. Half of Well's shots came from set-pieces.

Celtic Way:

Individually, Jota took the most shots with four. Interestingly, Kyogo and Giakoumakis both bagged their doubles from two shots apiece.

Possession, passing & positions

Celtic Way:

Remember that the warmer the colour the more influential the player and the thicker the passing lines the more passes between the players. The network gives a sense of where the game was played and who was most involved.

Given Celtic's dominance and the fact they were often in the Motherwell half, their average positioning resembles a 2-5-3 with the full-backs high alongside the midfield and Rogic positioned more advanced than the others. Only the centre-backs and keeper were really positioned in the home half.

Celtic Way:

Motherwell's network is ice-cold and disparate positionally which is unsurprising given Celtic enjoyed 77 per cent possession and completed 648 of 733 pass attempts (88 per cent). When the Steelmen did have the ball they did not pass it well (62 per cent).

Celtic Way:

In terms of individual players, Jota racked up three key passes (one assist) while Maeda and Turnbull each played two with the former grabbing two assists. Carl Starfelt topped the xGChain. Anthony Ralston and Greg Taylor both played a match-high five passes into the Well penalty area, with the right-back registering a direct assist for Kyogo's second goal.

Pressing and defending

Celtic Way:

Celtic Way:

Celtic accumulated 95 pressures to the visitors' 112 but made almost twice as many pressure regains (31 v 17) in a game fought most often in Motherwell's defensive third.

Maeda made the most pressures of any Celt with 14 while Taylor took the mantle for total pressure duration and duration per pressure. The Scot was the top home player for counter-pressures and total counter-pressing duration too.

Maeda also made a difference defensively. The Japan international registered a team-high four tackles while he also chipped in with an interception, a clearance and wasn't dribbled past.

Elsewhere, Starfelt (two tackles, four interceptions, six clearances and five aerial wins) and Carter-Vickers (three interceptions, five clearances and eight aerial wins) played their parts despite the dominant attacking display at the other end.
