CHRIS SUTTON has questioned the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award shortlist as he claimed the "best player in Scotland" missed out.
The former Celtic striker reckons Cameron Carter-Vickers has been the top performer in the Scottish Premiership but he did not make the four-name shortlist.
Cetlic team-mates Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic are nominated for the end-of-season gong but Carter-Vickers is not included.
Hearts keeper Craig Gordon and Ross County star Regan Charles-Cook make up the other two nominees.
But Sutton has been left in disbelief as to how Carter-Vickers missed out on a nomination.
Taking to Twitter, Sutton wrote: "The best player in Scotland this season has been Cameron Carter-Vickers by a stretch… how is he not on the list??"
Carter-Vickers, 24, joined Celtic in the summer on loan from Premier League side Tottenham.
He's been a key player under Ange Postecoglou playing 42 times across all competitions so far this season.
It comes after SBI Soccer reported Celtic were in advanced talks to sign Carter-Vickers on a permanent deal.
Reports suggest Celtic do hold an option to purchase Carter-Vickers through the loan agreement but potential fees have been estimated from £6million to as much as £10m.
Leicester, Burnley and Wolves have all been credited with interest in the defender.
