Notorious Celtic defender Marvin Compper has been put in charge of Russian side FC Lokomotiv.
The German takes over from Markus Gisdol who departed the club after taking a stand over the war in Ukraine.
36-year-old Compper arrived in Glasgow under Brendan Rodgers and was expected to add class and steel to the Hoops' backline.
He had previously played at the highest level in both Italy with Fiorentina and Germany with Hoffenheim, amongst others.
But it was to prove a disaster for all concerned and Compper failed to make a single start before leaving in 2019.
He moved to Moscow as part of countryman Gisdol's coaching team in October of last year.
A statement from the Russian club read: "Marvin Compper will prepare the team for the upcoming games.
"The club and the team are working as usual and are focusing on achieving maximum results in the upcoming matches in the Russian Cup and the Russian Premier League.
"We will continue to promptly inform fans about the situation at the club.
Despite suggestions from the club Gisdol was sacked, the manager has revealed he departed in protest over Russia invading Ukraine.
In a statement published by German newspaper Bild, he said: "I can't stand on the training ground in Moscow, train the players, demand professionalism and a few kilometres away orders are given that bring great suffering to an entire people. That is my personal decision and I am absolutely convinced of it.
"I cannot pursue my calling in a country whose leader is responsible for a war of aggression in the middle of Europe. That is not in line with my values, which is why I have resigned from my position as coach with immediate effect."
