CELTIC are edging closer to completing a deal for Reo Hatate, it has been reported.
The Parkhead outfit have been in talks with Kawasaki Frontale regarding a fee for the left-back for weeks.
Ange Postecoglou has made no secret of his desire to bolster his Celtic squad this January.
Hatate is one of three players from the J-League who are said to be in-bound.
Yokohama striker Daizen Maeda and Gamba Osaka’s Yosuke Ideguchi are also edging towards moves to Parkhead.
For now, though, Hatate's move is on the verge of completion - with a deal in principle agreed.
That's according to the Scottish Sun, and various reports in Japan.
Hatate primarily plays as a left-back, can also be used in midfield or on the left-wing.
His side Frontale were crowned J-League champions in recent months.
However, their season was brought to an end on Sunday after they were knocked out of the Emperor’s Cup at the semi-final stage.
They beat Postecoglou's former side Yokohama F. Marinos by 13-points to lift the J-League title in the most recent season.
