Joe Hart: The Celtic number one was beaten all ends up by dangerman Mykhailo Mudryk when he hammered an unstoppable equaliser into the roof of the net. He would have breathed a huge sigh of relief when Marian Shved's goal was disallowed after Mudryk had overrun it. The Englishman did, however, pull off a big stop with his right hand from Shved's drive too. 7

Josip Juranovic: It was Juranovic's hacked clearance that landed at the feet of Haksabanovic in the lead up to the first goal but it was also the Croatian who was hopelessly caught out by Mudryk's quick running in behind for the equaliser. In truth, he had his hands full trying to curb Mudryk all evening. 7

Cameron Carter-Vickers: As a wonderful reader of the game - allied to a physical presence - Carter-Vickers looked assured, composed and calm throughout the contest. He strolled through the match and never looked fazed at any stage as he celebrated his call-up to the USA international squad ahead of the World Cup finals in Qatar. 8

Moritz Jenz: The German really is growing into his role alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers at centre-back; he even crashed in a first-half effort at the other end that cannoned off the leg of Anatolii Trubin. He picked up a second-half booking for over-committing himself to a tackle and diving in but his passing was crisp enough for the most part. 7

Greg Taylor: Scotland international Taylor lashed a wonderful cross that fizzed along the six-yard box inside five minutes. He was given a tough time by Shved down the flank but got to grips with the game after the break and was more of an attacking outlet. 7

Callum McGregor: The skipper uncharacteristically slid in and tried to anticipate where the ball was going which led to the swift Shakhtar counter-attack and equaliser. Celtic lost control for a bit after that but the captain rallied his troops well. 7

Celtic Way:

Matt O'Riley: O'Riley threaded a lovely weighted pass into the path of Kyogo in the first minute which almost brought about the opening goal and also powered a header straight at Trubin during a lightning-quick start from the visitors. He peppered the goal with efforts all night including slashing a half-volley wide on 53 minutes as well as forcing Trubin into a diving save and firing one over the top too. 7

Reo Hatate: The Japanese midfielder applied the subtle finishing touch on a three-man move to give Celtic the all-important breakthrough in 10 minutes after a lung-busting run that took him deep into Shakhtar territory. Aside from that he displayed a decent range of passing and is a highly-skilled technician. 8

Jota: Mercurial winger Jota drifted in and out of the first-half proceedings and fired in a deflected effort that failed to trouble Trubin. The Portuguese wasted no time in curling in a shot immediately after the restart that was spilled by Trubin but had no takers for the rebound. He also saw two efforts blocked by the Shakhtar defence after two superb solo runs and was a threat throughout. 8

Kyogo Furuhashi: Talismanic Japanese goalscorer Kyogo returned to the starting XI at the expense of Giorgos Giakoumakis. He ought to have opened the scoring when he hammered the ball off Trubin's foot within 60 seconds. He was inches away from sliding in on Trubin and making it 2-0 afterwards too. 7

Sead Haksabanovic: The Montenegrin was handed his first full start for Celtic and what an arena to do it in. He skinned his marker early on which allowed Taylor to fire over a dangerous ball that was deflected inches wide. He was alive to Juranovic's clearance and was positive as he drove forward and had the presence of mind to play in Hatate, who supplied the deft touch to make it 1-0 to Celtic. He was, however, given the hook at the break for Daizen Maeda. 5

Substitutes

Daizen Maeda (Haksabanovic 45): Came on at the interval to replace Haksabanovic and won a lot of loose balls and chased lost causes. He put in a serious shift for his team but couldn't convert a last-gasp chance on the stretch. 6

David Turnbull (Hatate 68): Unleashed an effort that was always rising seconds after being introduced to the fray. 4

Aaron Mooy (O'Riley 68): The Australian midfielder replaced O'Riley with 22 minutes left on the clock. 4

Giorgos Giakoumakis (Kyogo 68): Came on for Kyogo as Celtic went for broke to win the match and he was twice inches away from bagging the winner. 5

Liel Abada (Jota 86): Israeli was given the last five minutes in place of Jota
