Joe Hart: The Celtic number one started between the sticks as he has done for every match of pre-season so far. He faced very few testing efforts and generally continued trying to contribute in build-up as best he could before being withdrawn at the break minutes for Bain. 6

Anthony Ralston: Scotland international Ralston started the match being forced off with a foot injury against Blackburn Rovers at the weekend. The 23-year-old proved he was switched on early doors with a fourth-minute recovery clearance to prevent Legia’s first attack ending with a shot. He repeated the feat in the 27th minute with a tough-tight interception from a menacing low cross from the opposite flank. It was a positive half of football from him, certainly in a defensive sense. 7

Cameron Carter-Vickers: In his usual right centre-back berth, Carter-Vickers strolled through the first 45 without much commotion. That changed within seconds of the restart when he failed to deal with a long ball forward from Legia sub keeper Kacper Tobiasz, allowing Maciej Rosolek to get the better of him and score. He was replaced as part of a trio of subs just before the hour mark. 6

Stephen Welsh: With the signing of Moritz Jenz, Welsh must have gone into this game knowing an impressive display was required with the season-opener against Aberdeen just a week-and-a-half away. He didn’t have much to deal with in a one-on-one sense for much of the opening 45 but made his presence felt in a different way; it was his line-breaking pass to Hatate that led to the second goal just before the break. After the resumption, he was drawn out of position a couple of times but showed good awareness and speed to keep pace with (and stop) a dangerous Legia breakaway. 7

Alexandro Bernabei: A rawness still exists in the 21-year-old’s game and actions such as chasing one man too far when the press wasn’t on or misjudging a raking pass leave gaps that could have been exploited. They weren’t on this occasion. Going forward was different though; on the front foot, Bernabei managed to demonstrate the kind of threatening play during his 45-minute showing that he will bring to the team this term and was always a willing runner whether that was to overlap or take up an in-field position as a passing option. 6

Callum McGregor: It seemed like a quieter evening on the cards for the captain, who was going about his business in low-key efficiency… before he popped up with a sublime clipped through ball on to Hatate’s right foot for the opener. He rattled the post himself with a daisy-cutter in the 29th minute while the rest of his 58-minute outing was spent patrolling and cajoling to keep the intensity at an acceptable level. 8

Reo Hatate: The 24-year-old returned to the team after a spell out with a knock and wasted no time making his presence felt with a first-minute, one-touch reverse ball to Abada that on another day would have led to a scoring opportunity. He opened the scoring himself in the 20th minute when he darted into the box to volley home McGregor’s lofted pass before Boruc could even have a chance to set himself. Hatate turned provider just before half-time when, after picking up a great Welsh pass, played an even better one of his own for Maeda to smash home. Simply put, he looks reinvigorated by the combination of a proper rest and a proper pre-season. Off at half-time having run Legia ragged. 9

Matt O’Riley: A standout so far in pre-season, O’Riley is reportedly drawing interest from English Premier League side Leicester City after only 19 competitive matches with Celtic. It’s not hard to see why with another 45-minute tour de force. The Denmark Under-21 international’s eye for a pass is matched arguably only by his willingness to try to play it. He did so on several occasions in Poland, including a 15th-minute through ball for Forrest which was only denied the goal it deserved by a classy save from Artur Boruc. O’Riley was prevented from finding the net himself before the half-hour not by Boruc but the woodwork. His work-rate can go unnoticed but he is very much active in that sense too. 8

Celtic Way:

Liel Abada: The Israeli has been quietly making his presence felt during the close-season fixtures and, while he did not tie his opposite number up in knots like he did to Blackburn’s Harry Pickering at the weekend, his play was persistent in any case. Taken off at half-time. 6

Daizen Maeda: A stint through the middle was the order of the day for the Japan international in Warsaw. He brought his customary endeavour and energy to proceedings but the feeling that he is simply more effective when played out wide lingers. The 24-year-old should have scored in the 31st minute when he pounced on a loose backpass but contrived to pull his right-footed strike well wide. He got his goal 13 minutes later, however, a good central run of his being found by Hatate. Maeda switched to left wing for the second half after Kyogo’s introduction and was withdrawn in the 58th minute. 7

James Forrest: Veteran winger Forrest came back into the XI for his third start of the pre-season schedule and looked spritely. He should, however, have scored on two occasions within around 30 seconds of each other – the first was stopped by a Boruc trailing-leg save and the second, from the resultant corner, was a miscued volley that went wide. He was removed at half-time as part of a raft of substitutions. 6

Second-half team

Scott Bain: The sub goalkeeper was beaten within the first minute of coming on by Rosolek’s drilled finish. He dealt well enough with Legia’s corner deliveries but was beaten again by Josue's volley. 5

Josip Juranovic: Got on the ball as often as possible but almost coughed up a Legia chance in the 53rd minute with a lapse which has been an unfortunate feature of his pre-season outings so far. The Croatia international never lets an error get him down, though, and continued to willingly take up the spatial positions he would be expected to despite it not being a particularly impressive night for him. One decent cross aside it was a sloppy display from the 26-year-old. 4

Greg Taylor: I can’t use the term ‘Duracell Bunny’ for his constant-motion persistence this season (it’s been nicked for use by a certain Mr D Maeda) but so far his dependability of last term has continued into this friendly schedule. The Scotland man continues to embrace the inverted responsibilities of a Celtic full-back to the best of his ability and often tries to showcase his fledgling passing ability too. In this particular instance it was more industry than inspiration though. 5

Yosuke Ideguchi: Lost what seemed a winnable 50-50 challenge in the immediate build-up to Josue’s leveller for Legia. When he got the chance to redeem himself from that in a similar situation in the 78th minute he did so – winning the ball high up the pitch and playing through Kyogo. That aside, he didn’t really take the chance to make a mark on the match. 4

David Turnbull: The way the Hoops played for much of the second half made it difficult for Turnbull to make the kind of forward runs he is becoming known for. 4

Kyogo Furuhashi: Continually buzzed away up front but wasn’t able to put his stamp on proceedings, which ultimately can be tagged as a byproduct of Celtic’s discombobulated second-half display in general. 4

Jota: Took up the right wing position from Abada and he tried to get on the ball as much as possible – without much joy on this occasion, it must be said. 5

Christopher Jullien: The Frenchman’s future at the club may have been placed in even further doubt following the signing of Jenz earlier this week but he nonetheless was given a run-out in Warsaw. Made an excellent block to spoil a good Legia chance and won a few headers. 5

James McCarthy: His lack of off-ball movement stands in stark contrast to McGregor, who he replaced in the 58th minute. On the ball McCarthy’s passing is generally crisp and accurate, if a little safe. The phrase ‘kept it simple’ is bound to be used a lot in his sporadic appearances this season. 4

Mikey Johnston: Didn’t quite click into gear in an attacking sense and wasn’t able to link up with Taylor in the manner the full-back desired. Saw a good shot saved when he did manage to get the creative juices flowing near the end. 4

Bosun Lawal: On for Welsh as the minutes ticked away.

Subs not used: Benjamin Siegrist.
