Celtic landed another cash windfall due to Bournemouth's promotion to the English Premier League.

The club earned more than £2million without kicking a ball as the Cherries' glory was factored into the transfer deal with Ryan Christie.

Bournemouth signed Christie last August as he entered the last six months of his deal at Parkhead.

Scott Parker's side secured promotion to the EPL last night with a 1-0 win over third-placed side Nottingham Forest.

That meant Celtic triggered Christie's promotion clause which netted them over £2million.

It is a timely boost for Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou knowing that the club coffers have been swelled and the finances generated can go towards the next phase of the Aussie's rebuild.

Elsewhere this season's Scottish Premiership champions stand to make an incredible £40 million from their Champions League participation.

Celtic could all but wrap up the title in name if they manage to beat Hearts at Celtic Park this Saturday.

That would mean automatic access to the highly lucrative group stages.

Money from the TV pool, and the UEFA coefficient as well as progress and results in the tournament could see Celtic bag a cool £30 million alone.

Those figures are outwith gate receipts and sponsorship agreements.

With Celtic's 2022/23 season not kicking off until July 30/31 an extended pre-season could be vital for the Aussie in order to prepare his men to be as competitive as possible in European football's premier club tournament.

Finally Celtic captain Callum McGregor narrowly missed out on a clean sweep of Player of the Year awards when he lost out to former teammate now Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon as the Hearts shot-stopper claimed the Scottish Football Writers' Association Player of the Year.
