Joe Hart: The Celtic number one watched as an early Ryan Kent effort flashed past the post and was right behind Kent's drive on 15 minutes with a safe pair of hands. However, he was beaten by Fashion Sakala's effort at his near post after 67 minutes and might feel that he should have done better to keep it out. Fashion Sakala then forced a decent stop moments later and produced a superb save from Scott Arfield late on. 7

Anthony Ralston: The full-back was skinned early on by Kent and had a nervy start and he switched off when Kent stabbed a volley wide of the target on 12 minutes. He gradually grew into the contest and gave his usual fully committed and wholehearted approach. Picked up the first yellow card for a foul on Arfield. 6

Cameron Carter-Vickers: The big stopper was performing to his usual high standards and was as measured, composed and assured self as ever. Alongside Starfelt the duo repelled everything Rangers could throw at them until Sakala popped up with the equaliser. 7

Carl Starfelt: Sweden international Starfelt looked commanding and solid in the opening exchanges and, one loose pass to Sakala apart, he was defensively sound all afternoon. The 26-year-old put in an outstanding performance and even embarked on a near-70-yard run from the deep inside his own half after the restart. 8

Greg Taylor: It was his quick thinking and sublime pass that broke the lines and created the space to allow Daizen Maeda to deliver into the box for Jota to put Celtic 1-0 up. It was a really clever piece of play from a defender who is at the top of his game at this moment. 7

Callum McGregor: The captain had a couple of slack passes at the start but was always available to kickstart attacks as he took the ball from Carter-Vickers and Starfelt. He was involved in the build-up to Jota's goal when he intercepted the ball and exchanged passes with Taylor and Reo Hatate and tried to drive his team forward at all times. 7

Reo Hatate: Like his recent comments alluded to, the midfielder certainly looked a bit lethargic and jaded. He was muscled out of proceedings by John Lundstrum in the opening period while his passing was erratic at times. Hatate failed to gain any real stranglehold in the match and it was no surprise when he made way for Tom Rogic after an hour. 5

Matt O'Riley: The Denmark Under-21 international was favoured in midfield instead of Rogic and struggled initially to make an impact. He grew in confidence and influence after the hosts had gone ahead before leaving the field after an hour to be replaced by Nir Bitton. 5

Jota: Jota slammed home the opening goal from Maeda's cross to take his tally to 12 for the season, showing he was alive and alert to give Celtic the vital breakthrough. He hammered a header over the top soon after and laid one on a plate for Maeda, who contrived to fluff his lines with his head. 8

Daizen Maeda: Ran his lungs out for the cause and was constantly on the move. it was his low accurate centre that was buried by Jota to put the hosts 1-0 up while he appeared in both boxes and covered so much ground it was frightening. He missed an absolute sitter with his head three minutes before the break as he was conscious of Allan McGregor coming to challenge him and smashed one over the top early in the second half. 7

Kyogo Furuhashi: The striker got the nod over fellow attacker Giorgos Giakoumakis and was a constant thorn in the Rangers rearguard with his constant closing down. However, he never got a clear sight of goal all afternoon and made way for the Greek attacker on the hour mark. 6

Substitutes

Giorgos Giakoumakis: Replaced Kyogo after 60 minutes and caused problems in attack but picked up a caution for a series of fouls for putting himself about. 4

Tom Rogic: The Wizard of Oz replaced the out of sorts Hatate after an hour and gave an initial fresh impetus in an attacking sense. 4

Nir Bitton: Came on for Matt O'Riley at the hour mark and picked up a yellow card for a foul on Scott Wright. 3

Liel Abada: Given a 13-minute run-out as he replaced the tireless Maeda and could have bagged a winner but was cynically brought down by Wright on the counter. 3
