The treatment door will open and shut with some regularity at Lennoxtown this morning. Ange Postecoglou may wish to avoid any lurking ladders as he heads about his business in preparation for Celtic's game against Dundee United on Sunday.

While the loss of Kyogo Furuhashi and Callum McGregor will be felt keenly by the club until they are back on the pitch - so much of Postecoglou's vision and methodology is reliant on those two - there is some welcome respite looming from the recent curse of injury issues.

James Forrest’s anticipated re-emergence will be a welcome boost for Celtic particularly since it adds another attacking dimension at a time when choices are few and far between. Understated and under-appreciated, Forrest’s stats at Celtic make for impressive reading. With 19 major honours to his name and only the second Scottish-based player to break the 100-mark for European outings, Forrest’s experience could be vital for Celtic this term as they look to reclaim the title.

It is not confined only to the domestic environs where Forrest had been so pivotal for Celtic. Had it not been for a pesky UEFA call to award a Forrest ‘goal’ as an own-goal in the Europa League play-off against Alkmaar, the 30-year-old would have banked his 15th Continental goal for the club, the same tally as Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard. As it is, the money would be on him surpassing those two and putting pressure on the European stats of Henrik Larsson, Chris Sutton and Jimmy Johnstone who lie ahead of him as Celtic's Europa League duties loom large.

Similarly, Christopher Jullien will be an interesting returner for Celtic. The defender has not played in 2021 for the club following the knee ligament damage he sustained last December but his inclusion in Celtic’s squad for their European campaign would suggest that he is not too far away.

In a season in which there has been no settled backline because of injury problems, Jullien's return will offer scope for a central defensive pairing that can foster an understanding and lend a constant to selection

Carl Starfelt has had a sticky start to his Celtic career but it remains too early to judge the Swedish defender who was thrown straight into the mix. Jullien’s defensive attributes and leadership qualities will be a significant addition to the squad while the final bit of business in the window that brought Spurs’ Cameron Carter-Vickers to the club offers scope for another option. The latter has looked sharper in recent performances as his fitness and match sharpness has increased.

Any kind of choice in selection personnel will be welcome by Postecoglou who may look to carry a lucky white heather in his pocket for the remainder of the campaign.
