Roma scored a late equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League last night (Thursday), after which Claudio Ranieri hailed former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou and the Australian's brand of football.

Now in charge of the Italian Serie A side, one-time English Premier League-winner Ranieri was delighted to have secured a point on the road against Spurs – especially given the way in which Postecoglou's set themselves up on the pitch.

On the night, it was Son Heung-min who fired his side in front from the penalty spot in just five minutes, before Roma's Evan Ndicka levelled on 20.

Brennan Johnson restored Tottenham's lead in the 33rd minute, with Mats Hummels saving the match for the visitors one minute into second half extra-time.

Speaking to broadcaster TNT afterwards, Ranieri said: "My players made a very fantastic performance. I said to Postecoglou, he has a fantastic team. I love his football, he tries to win, always.

Ranieri added: "It was good. It was good because we never gave up and we always believed in [getting] the draw. We played a good game against a fantastic team."

From here, Spurs' next Europa League encounter sees him return to Glasgow – this time on the opposite side of the city where his team will take on Rangers at Ibrox on Thursday, December 12.
