John Lundstram endured a horror show performance as Celtic triumphed in the final league meeting against Rangers.

The Ibrox midfielder scored an own goal to put Celtic two goals ahead before then being shown a straight red for a rash challenge on Alistair Johnston.

Willie Collum initially produced a yellow card but after a VAR review deemed the "outrageous" tackle worthy of a red card.

Pundit Kenny Miller had defender Lundstram insisting it only merited a yellow card - but Sutton was certain a red was the right call as he claimed it looked like the Ibrox midfielder "didn't want to be out there".

On his BBC 5 Live show with Robbie Savage, Sutton issued the damning verdict as his co-host admitted his bemusement over why there was any debate regarding the sending-off.

Savage said: "Lundstram, own goal, and then it was a straight red. I can't believe there is even a debate - it is a stonewall red card."

Sutton then added: "It is, and do you know what, the game was essentially done then, Rob.

"Celtic were the better team and Celtic have the better players.

"But if I am a Rangers fan I'm furious with John Lundstram.

"It was like he didn't want to be out there."

Rangers manager Philippe Clement even accepted the red card decision as he admitted he had no dispute over the decision.

He said: "I have no complaints on the red card. "It's totally unnecessary to make a tackle there at that moment.

"Lunny will be the first one to know and it's a split second moment of wrong decision making but I don't forget all the things he did in the last couple of months."
