Chris Sutton insists Celtic "can't consider" letting Matt O'Riley leave during the January.

The Hoops have reportedly received "an initial six-month loan with an obligation to buy in the summer for the 23-year-old from Atletico Madrid", according to Sky Sports.

O'Riley has thrived under Brendan Rodgers, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists for the Scottish champions so far this season.

And he has been the subject of much speculation as a result of this form, prompting the Hoops to extend his deal last year which keeps him under contract at Parkhead until 2027.

But Sutton feels the Denmark international will be staying put this month.

Writing on X, he said: "Celtic can’t even consider selling now… O’Riley may end up going in the summer as we know the Celtic model but there’s a title to be won and that’s the priority right now."

Meanwhile, Mikey Johnston is reportedly a loan "target" for English Championship side West Brom.

This is according to the Daily Mail who claim that that the "Midlands outfit have the Republic of Ireland international in their sights".

Johnston recently scored his first competitive goals for Celtic in over four years as he netted twice against Dundee on Boxing Day.

He spent last season on loan in Portugal with Vitoria de Guimaraes after signing a new deal which keeps him under contract at Parkhead until the summer of 2025.

Johnston has played eight times for the Scottish Champions so far this season.
