Nicolas Kuhn won't make his Celtic debut against Buckie Thistle this weekend.

The new signing - Brendan Rodgers' first during the January window - will not feature for Celtic in the Scottish Cup encounter.

Rodgers revealed Kuhn is not yet ready to be involved having recently spent a period out of action after an operation on his wisdom teeth.

The Celtic manager explained that Kuhn - signed for around £3m - experienced a "loss of strength" after the operation.

Kuhn previously stated that he lost weight as a result of the dental work because he was left unable to eat properly for 12 days.

Quizzed on his team selection for the Scottish Cup clash against Buckie Thistle, Rodgers said: "Nic [Nicolas Kuhn] will not be involved at the weekend as he has had a period out and then had an operation on his teeth so he has had a loss of strength in that, but he will be okay for Ross County.

"We will take the chance to be strong because we need to get the players back into a rhythm again and also I will take the chance to involve some young players as well but we will have a strong team because the players have been training hard at Lennoxtown and you can see the confidence and speed of everyone which is great but now we need to take that into the game. We have to get up to speed quickly."

On the dental operation, Kuhn previously stated: “It was my first training session [on Wednesday] for four or five weeks because in Austria you have the winter break.

“I was just running at home. So, of course, [it] was a tough session for me and I felt it. But over the next few days I should get better and better.

“I also had my wisdom teeth taken out in the middle of December and I lost a lot of weight because I couldn’t eat for 12 days. So, we need to try to get the kilos back. I need to try to build it all back up.

“I couldn’t really eat because it was too painful, I still have two on the left-hand side, but I think I’m going to keep them!"
