Chris Sutton reckons the situation surrounding Harry Kane's potential transfer move to Bayern Munich is "shambolic".

The Celtic hero previously insisted should Kane move on so close to Tottenham's Premier League season opener then he will have "stuffed" Ange Postecoglou.

Reports on Thursday claimed a record-breaking fee could be received by Spurs for the striker with the club accepting an offer upwards of £86.4million.

Sutton had posted on social media: "If Harry Kane leaves Tottenham now he will have stuffed Ange Postecoglou.

"It’s ridiculous him leaving 3 days before Tottenham’s first game…"

And now in his Daily Mail column he has warned Kane a move would leave a "bitter taste" because he'd be leaving Postecoglou up against it just days from the season opener.

While Sutton is not impressed at the late nature of the accepted bid and transfer possibility, he did admit Kane should have trophies to show for his goalscoring prowess.

He wrote: "Harry Kane was a one-season wonder. Then he did it for another season. Then another. And another. Until finally he was accepted as an every-season wonder for Tottenham.

"Even Arsenal fans would have to agree he is a fantastic footballer. Yet if he departs now, this leaves a bitter taste.

"Not because I begrudge Kane being interested in going to Bayern Munich. A striker as good as that should have trophies to show for his goals.

"But because of how this was dropped on Ange Postecoglou the day before the start of the new Premier League season.

"Postecoglou will have known this was a possibility for some time, yet for confirmation of Bayern's accepted offer to arrive now, it's shambolic.

"That is on Daniel Levy but it is also on Kane, who could have hurried this situation along if he wanted. He could have let it be known that he was interested in leaving Tottenham for Bayern."
