Everything James Forrest said to Celtic TV following Celtic's 3-2 win over Athletic Club as part of his testimonial celebrations...

James, an emotional night I'm sure, can you sum up your thoughts after the testimonial evening?

The last couple of days I feel as though going into the game I've been quite nervous. I've not normally been like that in any other game that I’ve had, but actually getting to the stadium tonight made me feel so much better. I think just being amongst the boys and seeing the fans and my friends and family, was just incredible. Just right from the start when I got to the stadium, I feel as though I actually really enjoyed it.

And how much does it mean to all of them to see you get this moment and recognition that is so thoroughly deserved?

Obviously, everyone is saying it's my night but the effort that my family has put in has been incredible – like what they’ve had to go through throughout the years as well so – I couldn’t have done it without them. It’s a collective thing with everyone close to me and obviously, it's my night but I feel as though it's everyone – the fans, the players, and the staff. You can't do it without everyone. I'm delighted with tonight’s win.

And a nod to the boys, they gave you a victory on the pitch. They weren’t going to let it go?

I know. Obviously, I was taken off when we were 2-1 down but the second-half team did really well. Everything about tonight I've really enjoyed.

And of course, we go again. How excited are you about another season in the hoops and another challenge ahead?

It's amazing, I've really enjoyed pre-season. We were away for a couple of weeks in Portugal and Japan with the boys. I'm 32 but I'm still really enjoying it. It’s a great place to be and I've loved every minute of it but I want to keep doing as much as I can for the club.
