Ben Doak has revealed the advice he has been receiving from Liverpool superstar Mo Salah to help to try to improve his game.

The Scotland youngster broke through under Jurgen Klopp last year and this season he is targeting even more game time at Anfield.

Doak has already shown talent and at the weekend he grabbed his first senior goal for the club in a friendly against Leicester City.

After the 4-0 victory he spoke to LFCTV and explained the role of Salah in his progression. He told LFCTV: “I mean, what’s not to like? He’s one of the best in the world, he has been for a few years.

"I can just soak it all up, try and take everything I can from him. It just feels really good to score in front of all the fans. I’m obviously trying to do my best and improve us as well.

"It feels night and day from this time last year. Still a long way to go, I’m just trying to improve as a player again. I want to play as many games as possible.

“The more you play, the more likely you are to stay in the game as a whole. I’m just trying to make a career for myself – hopefully at the highest level.”

Klopp was impressed by Doak's display against Leicester. The Liverpool boss was quizzed on Alexis Mac Allister's performance, but he quickly went on to the Scotland U21 star.

He explained: "Good player (Mac Allister). These things need time. Even in the season, it's not that you have the first game and then it's the best game of the season – that would be really horrible if that would be the case.

"We have to work on it. We have a lot of options in the areas and the boys need to show up. It's not pressure, it's just the situation. I think it was clear when we scored three in the first half, but second half, Cody, Dom, Luis and Ben - to be honest, that was pretty special."
