Callum McGregor insists if Ange Postecoglou is to leave Celtic, then he has done so in the right way.

The 57-year-old guided the Hoops to their eighth treble, and in turn, secured his fifth trophy from six available during his time in charge.

It is expected that Tottenham will make an official approach for Postecoglou in the coming days, as they seek to make a permanent appointment to fill the role vacated by Antonio Conte in March.

McGregor is, at this stage, none the wiser to anything that may happen this week with regards to Postecoglou's future.

But if he is to leave Glasgow, the Hoops skipper says he's gone out with a bang.

"To be honest, we don't know. In football, there's always speculation with people getting linked. But that's a good thing, it shows people are doing a good job. It shows the players have done a good job for him and that he's done a good job for the club.

"It's always nice to have that compliment. In football, you just never know.

"We will celebrate tonight, and quite rightly so, we've had a brilliant season. Then we'll see what happens. You have to be flexible when these things come your way.

"He's always spoken about how well you can be as a group, how together you can be, and how successful you can be.

"Like I said, selfishly we hope that we keep him. Hopefully, we've got him for pre-season, but if that is a parting gift then what a way to go."

The man himself remained very coy over his future when he was asked about it during his media duties post-match.

Instead, the Australian opted to focus on the achievement secured by his players, as well as pointing to an upcoming family holiday to look forward to on the horizon.

He said: "I understand all that but I am going to be a little bit selfish here because not just myself, my family, the people around me have all worked really hard to enjoy this moment.

"As disappointing as that may be for people that's what I'm going to do [enjoy it].

"We've worked too hard as players, and managers that if I then start talking about things that aren't really important right now to me and those people around me...mate, I'm just enjoying this and I will enjoy it for as long as I can until people drag me away to talk about other things."
