Celtic legend Scott Brown praised Fleetwood Town's spirit as a 1-1 draw with Port Vale brought to an end a three-game losing streak.

The Cods had flirted with the EFL League One drop-zone spots earlier in the campaign before an impressive run of form and a historic FA Cup run saw them surge up the table.

A trio of defeats on the spin put the pressure on again slightly but the ex-Scotland captain successfully ended that streak by holding Vale to a draw at home thanks to Jack Marriott's late equaliser.

They now sit comfortably in 14th but Brown is eyeing further improvement amid a change in tactics and a rewarding visit to the Cheltenham Festival for his players.

You can watch his reaction in the video below:

Brown told the club's website: "It's been a long six weeks for the lads to go Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday-Tuesday. They lost a little bit of energy but, I'll tell you what, they work extremely hard and they kept going till the 97th minute.

"They were tired, they were cramping up but they've worked extremely hard since we've come in here and now it's time for them to relax and chill as we go Saturday-Saturday for the next couple of weeks which is ideal for us.

"It's disappointing the way we played but, after that six-week period, we're in a miles better position so we've got to look at that.

"We’ve chopped and changed formations as well so, in the next couple of weeks, we can work on playing a 3-5-2/4-3-3. We can start to work on shape, pressing and our understanding of getting on the ball as well.

"They'll also enjoy a little bit of fun as well - I think they're going to go down to Cheltenham so I'm sure the lads will enjoy that."
