Liel Abada has sent fans a cryptic message over his frequent use as a Celtic substitute.

The Israeli winger claims that "there are things behind" the decision to use him from the bench rather than in the starting XI.

Since joining the Scottish champions in the summer of 2021, Abada has been sensational.

The 21-year-old has scored 27 goals in 93 appearances. He's netted 12 goals this season.

Despite 39 of those games coming this term, many of them have been from the bench. Jota and Daizen Maeda are the clear first picks on the wings from Ange Postecoglou.

Abada started against Hearts midweek, as the Hoops maintained their nine-point over Rangers with a 3-1 win at Celtic Park.

However, speaking to a media outlet in Israel, the attacker claims he can't provide much detail as to why he doesn't earn more starts under Postecoglou.

He told Sport 5: "I'm coming on as a substitute, there are things behind it that people don't know. I don't want to go into too much detail."

Postecoglou was pressed after last week's win over St Mirren, where Abada came off the bench to change the course of the game.

The manager said: "What do you reckon would happen to players who throw their toys out of the pram, mate?

"He’s a really ambitious guy who wants to be at a big football club. He wants to win things and be the best he can be. That’s exactly where he is at."
