Ange Postecoglou reckons his Celtic side have not even begun to peak despite a great run of form.

The Scottish champions are currently nine points clear at the top of the league table, in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup and also recently retained the League Cup recently against Rangers at Hampden.

However, despite being in a commanding position, the ex-Socceroos coach feels more progress can still be made.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "We started the season really strongly and we only dropped one game. I think our performances and the way we're going about things have improved since the break.

"In second-half of the year and we want play our best football now and finish the season strong. And if we do that, it gives us a great foundation for next year.

"If you look at the overall age and profiles of our players very few are at that peak age. Most of them have got that ahead of them and you know our role within that is to try and get them to be the best they can be."

The Australian also praised midfielder Reo Hatate, claiming the 25-year has gone to "another level" over the last few weeks.

He was awarded the Scottish Premiership Player of the Month award and Postecoglou feels it is more than deserved.

"He's had a good year" the 57-year-old continued. "When he came in 12 months ago, it is fair to say he made an impact straight away, but you know we kind of knew it would be a tough sort of initiation for him because he'd come off the back of a full Japanese league season.

"In contrast, this year with the benefit of having a good preseason with us he's just been really strong and consistent all year.

"I think over the last month he's just gone to another level and I certainly believe there's there's another couple of levels in him as a footballer.

"And you know, he's enjoying it and he's making more of an impact, which is great."
