He may not have the skills and tricks that Ryan Kent has.

But Chris Sutton is adamant that Liel Abada has what the Rangers star would love - an excellent end product.

The young Israeli winger took his goal tally to 10 the other night against St Mirren on league business.

And Sutton reckons that's an impressive feat, given the amount of games he's been on the bench for.

The pundit admits he's not as flashy as the likes of Kent, who is starting to return to something resembling his previous form at Ibrox.

However, Abada has shown the Englishman how to finish off his chances.

Sutton wrote in his Daily Record column: "It's incredible to think Celtic have a wide player who has hit double figures for the season and yet still seems to fly under the radar.

"Liel Abada took his tally to 10 for the campaign the other night against St Mirren and no one really batted an eyelid. Perhaps because everyone is just so used to seeing the winger chipping in with goals so regularly.

"But the youngster deserves a bit of credit – because his numbers are really spectacular.

"Abada has hit 10 but he’s only actually started 13 games out of 30 this season. You look at the huge amount said and written about Ryan Kent across the city at Rangers.

"Abada has scored seven more goals this season and created a similar amount as well – yet he’s been on the pitch half the time. That’s the funny thing with the player.

"He’s involved most weeks in some capacity. He’s spent a lot of time on the bench but tends to get thrown on in the final 30 minutes.

"When he does start, he usually comes off after an hour, which is the way Ange Postecoglou likes to do it with his wide players. Work them hard and then send on replacements to do the same. But I can’t help but feel it’s been a little harsh on Abada at times this season and it feels a bit like he hasn’t kicked on from last year.

"Listen, he set a high bar. He scored on his debut against Midtjylland and has never really stopped. He’s hit the net in huge games – like against Rangers – and I like the fact when he plays it allows Jota to play on the left, where I feel he is more comfortable.

"I understand why it’s been hard to get him starts of late. Daizen Maeda’s form has been superb since coming back from the World Cup. But if I was Abada I would be feeling a tad frustrated at not getting more starts.

"It will come though and I’m not surprised there is talk about a new contract. If I was Michael Nicholson I’d be getting him tied down as soon as possible. Other teams will be looking at him, I’ve got no doubt about it.

"He might not really have a trick in him like Kent does. But he certainly has the end product – and that’s something that’s occasionally questioned with the Rangers man."
