MORITZ JENZ is loving life at Parkhead since arriving in the summer on a temporary deal as the centre-half compared representing Celtic to playing for Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old joined from Lorient in the summer on a season-long loan deal and has made 19 appearances for Ange Postecoglou’s side in that time.

Jenz admits he has been enthralled with the cinch Premiership champions’ rich history since pitching up in Glasgow, while Champions League encounters against the likes of Real Madrid have left the defender pinching himself at times.

The German – who vies for a place in central defence in the starting line-up alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers, Carl Starfelt and Stephen Welsh – finds himself particularly taken with Celtic’s goal music, Depeche Mode’s Just Can’t Get Enough, as he insisted that he sees similarities between his current club and 14-time Champions League winners Real Madrid.

“As soon as you're here, you know that it's something different,” Jenz told German outlet Fussbal Woche. “This club is old school and a bit mystical.

“The fans bleed for the club and as a player you represent a huge story.

“You feel it to the core [when Depeche Mode's Just Can't Get Enough comes on]. The atmosphere is brutal and dynamic.

“Watching Celtic should be on everyone's bucket list for life. It feels like playing for Real Madrid – only in Scotland.”

Jenz's loan deal is up at the end of the season but with Celtic including an option to buy the defender in the original deal, he is hopeful of extending his stay in Scotland.

“Celtic would be my first choice,” Jenz added when asked about his future. “But you can't control it yourself in football.”
