Celtic will take on Ligue 1 club Rennes during their winter training camp in Portugal.

The Parkhead club are on their travels once again after previously being Down Under for the Sydney Super Cup.

The announcement was made by the French side on social media.

It is yet to be officially confirmed by the Bhoys that the match is taking place, but that is expected in due course.

The game will be played on Saturday, December 10 and at this moment, there is no confirmation of whether supporters will be able to watch the friendly.

Both clubs have recent history, with the Scottish champions facing off against Bruno Genesio's side in the 2019-20 Europa League group stages.

The Celts drew 1-1 in France thanks to a Ryan Christie penalty and then beat Rennes 3-1 in the match at Parkhead to top a European group for the first time in the club's history.

In the second fixture, goals from Lewis Morgan, Christie again, and Mikey Johnston were enough to secure all three points.

Meanwhile, the experience of working with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic will be invaluable for Kolo Toure in his first manager's job.

This is according to the former player himself as he was announced as the new permanent gaffer of the struggling Championship side.

He left Rodgers' coaching staff at Leicester to go it alone as part of the move.

Rodgers signed Toure for Celtic during his first season. The powerful centre-back would go on to make ten appearances for the club.

However, his connections to the Scottish giants remained despite retiring in 2017, as Rodgers appointed Toure to his backroom staff as part of the first team.

Toure would follow Rodgers to the Premier League in 2019.

The Ivorian admits it was a tough call to leave the Foxes, but he pointed to the lessons he's learned while working under Rodgers over the past five-years.

He said: “The experiences that I have amassed under Brendan Rodgers have been invaluable and I’m sure they will help me in this next chapter of my career.

“I am extremely proud to be named manager of Wigan Athletic. Wigan Athletic is a big club with hugely passionate fans. Together, we can continue to make the right steps forward.

"I’m excited to work with this talented group of players and staff, and immensely look forward to my time ahead.”
