Shunsuke Nakamura has landed his first job as a coach after recently retiring as a player.

The 44-year-old called time on his playing days last month as he called time on a wonderful career, most notably with Celtic.

During his four-year stint in Glasgow Nakamura won six trophies and he will now be looking to replicate that form as he enters the world of coaching.

He retired at Yokohama and he will now take over as the club's first-team coach.

A statement read: "From the 2023 season, Mr. Shunsuke Nakamura will be appointed as the Yokohama FC top team coach."

Nakamura was delighted to land his first coaching role.

He said: “From the 2023 season, I will be appointed as the coach of the Yokohama FC top team and will follow the path of a coach.

“I am very happy to go into battle with Yokohama FC again next season. It has been a great source of inspiration in my football life. I will work hard to be able to do the same.

"I will once again face football from scratch, take on various challenges, repeat failures and successes, and grow. I would like to thank you for your continued support."

Meanwhile, Al Ahly boss Marcel Koller has issued a hands-off warning to Celtic about his star man Afsha and insisted they will do everything possible to keep him in Egypt.

The Hoops have been linked with a loan move for the Egyptian international, who plays with Liverpool legend Mo Salah for the national team.

Attacking midfielder Afsha plays for Cairo giants Al Ahly and signed a new contract two years ago, but he's been consistently linked with a move to Europe.

He's been instrumental in Al Ahly’s success in the last two years, helping them to a total of seven trophies since arriving from Pyramids FC.

He saw a £300,000 move to Sivasspor collapse in August, but local reports claimed Celtic had made overtures to the Cairo club about taking him on loan in January.

However, Al Ahly's Swiss manager Koller insists the 26-year-old is going nowhere.
