Ange Postecoglou has explained why Jota was substituted off at half-time in the 2-1 Premiership win over St Johnstone in Perth.

The Portuguese winger started the game in his customary wide left berth but did not re-emerge for the second 45.

Celtic won the match without their talisman as an Andy Considine own goal and Giorgos Giakoumakis's late winner rendered Alex Mitchell's own injury-time leveller obsolete.

Asked after the match for an update on Jota's status, Postecoglou told Sky Sports: "Yeah, it was just a bit of fatigue.

"The plan wasn't to play him for too long today as he's played a lot of football so I don't think there's any concern there."
