Both captains were forced from the field injured during Celtic's 3-1 Champions League defeat against RB Leipzig.

Home skipper Péter Gulácsi went down after just 13 minutes clutching his right knee and was taken off on a stretcher.

Hoops talisman Callum McGregor followed in the 37th minute, to be replaced by Danish midfielder Oliver Abildgaard for only his second club appearance.

Ange Postecoglou said post-match that McGregor's injury "doesn't look good".

He added: "He put in an enormous effort to chase back and it was his toe-poke that put the guy through.

"Looking at it, it doesn't look good. But I'll wait and see what the doctors say."

Leipzig's official website released an update on their own captain, suggesting his injury is a serious one.

The update read: "Péter Gulácsi suffered a serious knee injury in the 10th [sic] minute of our UEFA Champions League game against Celtic.

"Our captain sustained an anterior cruciate ligament tear in his right knee and will be out for a lengthy period of time.

"Further examinations will follow in the coming days."
