ANGE POSTECOGLOU has been tipped to become a future Liverpool manager as a pundit claimed he's "too good to stick around at Celtic" long-term.

The Greek-Australian manager tasted instant success in Scotland with a Premier Sports Cup and Scottish Premiership title in his first season in charge.

And he's already been linked with a move down south with rumours of interest from Brighton after Graham Potter's move to Chelsea.

The speculation came to nothing, but former Celtic starlet Paul Slane reckons it won't be long before Postecoglou is in line for a major move.

The Open Goal contributor claims Postecolou could easily be next in line for the Liverpool hotseat whenever Jurgen Klopp leaves the club.

And in a bullish statement, Slane hailed Postecoglou as an elite boss with an ambitious mentality as he claimed the manager is already better than Graham Potter.

“I think Postecoglou’s going to be the next Liverpool manager, I really do," insisted Slane speaking to Grosvenor Sport.

“I think he’ll be the next Liverpool manager when Jurgen Klopp decides to go or Liverpool decide to part with him.  Who else takes the Liverpool job after Klopp?

"At times in this season’s Champions League game against Real Madrid, the European champions, Celtic were unbelievable, so I think Ange Postecoglou is good enough to be the next Liverpool manager.

"If people think Graham Potter is better than Postecoglou, and he can get the Chelsea job, then they’re wrong…”

While Slane is certain Postecoglou is destined for a Premier League role in the future, he's hopeful the manager will still be in post come the start of next season.

However, he's also convinced Postecoglou will move on within the next five years as he branded the manager "too good" to remain at Celtic long-term.

Slane added: “Sadly I think Postecoglou will be too good to stick around at Celtic for the next four or five years.

"He’ll want the Premier League, the top teams, the money… I think Ange will want to go and face off against the world’s top managers week-in, week-out.

"So I think it’ll be hard for him to stay with Celtic. But come the first game of next season, I think he’ll still be managing Celtic.”

Fellow Open Goal host Si Ferry is similarly excited about Postecoglou's achievements and progress at Celtic as he tipped his former club for a domestic treble this season.

But he suggested Postecoglou could move on to pastures new at the end of the current season.

Ferry explained: “I think he’ll clean up domestically this season and, if he qualifies for the last 16 of the Champions League, which I think he will, I think he could be off at the end of the season.

"I don’t just rate him because he’s the Celtic manager, he really has got something about him, so I think it will be tough for Celtic to keep hold of him next year, I really do.”
