CHARLIE NICHOLAS has warned Ange Postecoglou to not follow the path of Steven Gerrard and Brendan Rodgers by heading to England at the first opportunity.

The Celtic boss has impressed so far during his Parkhead tenure as he successfully landed the Scottish Premiership title in his first season in charge.

With success comes speculation and Postecoglou has been linked with jobs in the Premier League in recent weeks.

But Nicholas insists he will be looking for bigger and better opportunities than Brighton and Leicester.

He wrote in the Daily Express: "Ange Postecoglou won't be interested in the job at Leicester City if it becomes available - but he will, eventually, leave Celtic for a top European club. The English Premier League is attractive but there are times to make that move and Steven Gerrard made the wrong choice last term to go to Aston Villa.

"Ange won't make that mistake as he can see what happens down south and will wait until the right opportunity comes along. He seems to be enjoying where he is and wants to achieve more at Celtic.

"But, if he continues to bring success, it will lead to offers and I get the feeling he'd rather work on the continent than in England. Brendan Rodgers couldn't wait to leave Celtic after a fall-out with Peter Lawwell. Now he's under pressure and Leicester don't look like a great option at present."
