Celtic skipper Callum McGregor has revealed the fate of his title-winning mask from last season.

The Scotland international was forced to wear the face protector after picking up an injury against Alloa at the start of the year.

He famously made his return to action after a spell out by wearing the mask in the 3-0 thrashing of Rangers in February.

After continuing to use the protection until May, Hoops fans were delighted when photos emerged during pre-season training of the 29-year-old maskless.

In Q+A with the official club Twitter account, McGregor explained what is happening with the now iconic piece of plastic.

He said: "I'm going to sign it and it will go to the Celtic Foundation to be auctioned off."

During the social media exchange, the club captain also detailed who he would have loved to play with the most and where last season's title ranked in his vast amount of honours.

"Tommy Burns," he said. "He was a genius and I wish I could have played beside him in the midfield.

"I think given the start of the season and how we were written off before we’d even kicked a ball – to win the league and in the way that we did was one of my favourites!”
