REO HATATE has opened Celtic's scoring against Legia Warsaw with a stunning finish.

The Japanese midfielder produced a stunning lob on the swivel to score past Artur Boruc during his farewell showdown.

Hatate looked sharp from the off and converted for the Hoops on the 20-minute mark following a lovely pass by Callum McGregor.

Celtic fans were delighted with his finish but they all noticed the same thing.

Hatate was wearing a blue mouthguard during the pre-season clash and supporters were left puzzled by his new look.

One said: "Gum shield Hatate is some player."

Another tweeted: "Hatate - needs a change in colour for the mouth guard!"

A third commented: "Good job Hatate has his gum shield in. Artur would’ve knocked his teeth out for that."

And a fourth added: "On the backshift, some goal by Hatate, is he wearing a gum shield?"

Celtic players wore a special Boruc t-shirt in tribute to Boruc ahead of the showdown in Poland.

It’s the penultimate friendly match for Ange Postecoglou’s side, with another game against Norwich City this weekend before the new Premiership season kicks off on July 31.

And the Hoops boss will be looking for another tough test for his side when they take on their Polish opponents tonight.
