Stefan Johansen can't wait to see how Ange Postecoglou's men fare in the Champions League group stages this season - as it is where a club of Celtic's stature truly belong.

The Norwegian reckons that it is not just the Hoops players who will get a buzz from playing in such a world-renowned football arena in the best club tournament on earth but also the visiting opposition.

Johansen never played in European football's premier club competition with the Celts but he readily concedes that he still follows the club's fortunes as a fan and is as excited as anyone to see them return to the top table.

The 31-year-old insists that he is delighted that Postecglou has won the hearts and minds of the Celtic faithful by playing an attack-minded, swashbuckling style that guided his former club to last season's Scottish Premiership title and League Cup success.

Celtic Way:

"Celtic belong in the Champions League group stages," said Johansen, who now plies his trade for Queens Park Rangers. "They are a famous club all over Europe so for them to be in the group stages will also appeal to European football's greatest players as they enjoy playing in an atmosphere like that.

"It is something special - I am just so happy to see Celtic back in the Champions League group stage competing among the elite.

"I still follow their fortunes, I always keep an eye on them. I'm a supporter now. I think Ange Postecoglou has done incredibly well as he came in after a disappointing season where Rangers won the title.

"As a former player, I know what it is like to bounce back and he has done a fantastic job getting everything back on track for the club. The Celtic fans are also enjoying the style of football that he wants to play too - it is an entertaining way of playing. He has turned it all around in the space of 12 months."
