CONTRACT talks between Celtic and Jota are already underway, according to reports.

The Portuguese winger's permanent transfer to the soon-to-be Scottish champions appears to be edging closer.

The 23-year-old attacker has been an inspired signing by Ange Postecoglou in his debut season in Glasgow's eats end.

He joined on a season-long loan from Benfica last summer. Celtic have an option to buy Jota, with a pre-determined fee of around £6.5million required.

Speculation surrounding his future has been rife for many months now.

It emerged earlier today that the player had informed Benfica that he wants to make his stay at Celtic a permanent one.

Now, according to A Bola, contract talks between the relevant parties have started.

Jota has scored 12 times so far this season, including in the weekend's derby draw with Rangers.

He is potentially just one win away from becoming a champion along with the rest of the team, with Celtic six-points ahead of Rangers with just three games of the league campaign remaining.
