Pat Bonner has urged Celtic to ensure Japanese star Reo Hatate is given a complete reset at the end of the campaign.
The midfielder exploded onto the Scottish game after his January arrival and he capped a brilliant start with a scintillating double against Rangers at Parkhead.
Since then, he’s struggled to find a similar level of top form and looked tired, something that hasn't gone unnoticed by fans.
This is unsurprising given he arrived at the end of the J-League season and continued without a break into the battle for the Premiership title.
Hoops legend Bonner wants to see the star given the chance to shine after some rest and recuperation.
He told the BBC: “Reo Hatate is interesting, Ange brought him off today. The crowd were getting on top of him but he’s young.
“He looks as if he needs a complete post-season. A real rest.
“Then you might see a better player.
“The first night he came I watched him here and thought he was sensational and looked a fantastic player but he hasn’t been able to keep that going.
“He looked very, very heavy-legged and everything isn’t happening for him and the crowd are starting to get onto him a little bit.
“I think he needs a really good rest but he’s young and he could become a great player.”
