Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is in contention to scoop the highly prestigious Scottish Football Writers' Association Manager of the Year award.

The Aussie is up for the honour in his first season in Scottish football and is one of five names on the shortlist.

The 56-year-old oversaw a major overhaul in the summer at Celtic and has already guided the club to the Premier Sports League Cup success.

Celtic are also on the brink of reclaiming the Scottish Premiership title and currently stand six points clear of Rangers at the top of the table with four games to go.

Postecoglou will battle it out with fellow top-flight manager Robbie Neilson who has made the cut after a superb season with Hearts.

Neilson has guided the Jambos to a third-place spot in the club's first season back in the division as well as the Scottish Cup final showpiece against Rangers.

Malky Mackay makes up the last candidate from the Scottish Premiership for his outstanding campaign with the Staggies.

After a dreadful ten-game winless run at the start of the season, County miraculously sealed a top-half finish and they could still qualify for a European spot.

Arbroath manager Dick Campbell flies the flag for the Scottish Championship after the part-time club enjoyed a magnificent season s they were pipped to the Championship title-winning post by Kilmarnock and are now preparing to play in the promotion play-offs.

The final nominee is Scotland boss Steve Clarke who has guided the nation to a play-off from reaching our first World Cup finals since 1998.

The winner will be announced at the annual Player of the Year dinner on Sunday, May 8.

Elsewhere Celtic defender Stephen Welsh missed out on the SFWA Young Player of the Year Award as Aberdeen's Calvin Ramsay claimed that honour.

Six Celtic players were also nominated for the PFA Scotland Team of the year with Cameron Carter-Vickers, Josip Juranovic, Tom Rogic, Callum McGregor, Jota and Kyogo Furuhashi all making the cut.
