DANNY MILLS admits that Celtic have improved under Ange Postecoglou but believes that the strides taken under the Greek-Australian manager aren't as big as some would have him believe.

The Glasgow club finished 25 points behind Rangers last season as their bid for an historic ten-in-a-row success faltered at the final hurdle.

This term, they lead their rivals by six points with five games left to play in the league and have already eclipsed the previous campaign's points tally.

Postecoglou's side are unbeaten domestically since a 1-0 defeat to Livingston in September but Mills is refusing to get carried away. Part of the reason Celtic have looked so good, the pundit argued, is that Rangers have 'dropped off' since Giovanni van Bronckhorst replaced Steven Gerrard as manager.

"He's brought in a lot of players that he knew, players from Asia," Mills told Football Insider.

"People still accept and understand that the level of the Scottish Premiership is not that of the Premier League.

"Celtic were in a decent place. They weren't a million miles off it, they had a good squad of players.

"Realistically it's still only a two-team league. Rangers have dropped off a little bit, losing Steven Gerrard was a big blow for them.

"Celtic have improved a little bit, Rangers have dropped off a little bit. It appears as if it is a bigger swing than it is.

"They will want to see how he does in the Champions League first and see what his recruitment is like with another window.

"They just need to see a little bit more longevity. Because Rangers have dropped off a little bit it doesn't tell the whole story."
