RANGERS emerged victorious as the Old Firm's B teams met at Celtic Park tonight.

The teams met in a Lowland League encounter, with David McCallum's boys winning 1-0.

Cole McKinnon bagged the only goal of the evening, with the midfielder scoring with a cushioned header in the second-half to give the Light Blues all three-points.

It was a tightly fought encounter at Parkhead, as both team's top youngsters got another chance to play in a competitive derby match in front of fans.

The outfits were goalless at the half-time, as the kids could not be separated.

Chances were few and far between in the first 45, with neither keeper tested too much.

Rangers shaded it slightly, with the likes of Ross McCausland getting a couple of shot away, along with Tony Weston and McKinnon too.

Ben Wylie had come closest for the hosts in the first-half. Karamoko Dembele had also floated in some dangerous crosses from dead-ball situations.

Both teams had shown their quality on the ball, as well as their will and determination to get the better of their opponents.

However, there was no doubt more quality was needed in the final third.

And Rangers were the side to provide the goods the game was crying out for, as they eventually came out on top.

Celtic came out of the blocks flying, with Rangers not really getting going at all.

Dembele and Owen Moffat tried their luck, but both shots drifted off target.

However, it was the visitors who opened the scoring, as they settled following a shaky start following the break.

McKinnon got the all-important break through for the Gers B side. Robbie Fraser sent a cross into a dangerous area, as McKinnon got his head on to it before wheeling off in wild celebration with his team-mates.

Celtic did try to hit back soon after, as Rocco Vata played Dembele in - but the pass was overhit as the Gers defence managed to clear.

Heading into the final ten-minutes, Vata was ramping up the pressure as he flashed an inviting ball across the face of goal, but again there were no takers.

Rangers keeper Lewis Budinauckas then produced a fantastic save to prevent Celtic from equalising. Adam Brooks fired a lovely curling effort towards the top corner, but the stopper was able to match it.

Rangers managed to see out the game, as they recorded their second derby victory in four-weeks having previously defeated Celtic at Ibrox in March.
