FORMER Celtic striker John Hartson has tipped Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis to join him in the 100 goal club... if they stick around Scottish football long enough.

Hartson is in esteemed company as one of only a few Celtic players to have reached the ton landmark.

Some famous and legendary names adorn the list with the likes of Jimmy McGrory, Henrik Larsson, Bobby Lennox, Jimmy Johnstone and Kenny Dalglish all in the century club. The Welshman believes that Giakoumakis and Kyogo could be the next ones to achieve that distinction.

Giakoumakis has bagged 12 goals in 23 appearances for Celtic while Kyogo has 16 in 32 outings.

Hartson said: "Where is the next Celtic centurion going to come from? I think Giakuomakis could join the 100 goals for Celtic if he sticks around.

"I said it about Leith Griffiths and he achieved it. You have to be at a club for four seasons at least and rattling in 25 goals a campaign.

"You also have to legislate for injuries and other strikers coming to the club and having competition and staying in the team but why not? He is fantastic, certainly a player who I could see scoring 100 goals for Celtic if he stays for a while.

"Kyogo is another one who could reach that target. He started his Celtic career on fire and he is another player who could achieve the same total if he stays at the club for a good number of years.

"It is not beyond the realms of possibility to see Giakoumakis and Kyogo both score 100 goals for Celtic and reach that milestone.

"They would join an elite and illustrious club if they do that as there is the likes of Jimmy McGrory, Bobby Lennox, Jimmy Johnstone, Kenny Dalglish, Henrik Larsson as well as myself and a few others on that list.

"If they each hang around Celtic long enough they could both achieve that landmark figure."

Meanwhile, Hartson reckons that the Celtic supporters will be waiting around a long time to see the Giakoumakis and Kyogo play in attack together.

The 46-year-old insists that Ange Postecoglou will deploy one or the other in the centre forward role - but never both.

Even though Martin O'Neill used to rotate Hartson alongside Chris Sutton and Henrik Larsson when he was the manager, the 51-times capped striker admits that Postecoglou isn't going to entertain the notion of a 4-4-2 as he has his philosophy and beliefs and he won't deviate from his favoured 4-3-3 formation.

Hartson said: "It would be one or the other for me. Postecoglou sets his teams up to play with just one up front and two wingers. He likes width and balls in the box and three in the middle of the park. He has not wavered from that and he has played it in Europe and home and away in the league.

"That is just the way he does things. I don't see him changing his philosophy and beliefs and I have watched Celtic every game this season.

"Postecoglou has done a remarkable job for Celtic so far and it is great to see. Long may that continue for Celtic."
