CELTIC youngster Ben Doak is closing in on a dream move to the Premier League with Liverpool, according to a report.

The Athletic reports that The Reds are set to land the talented teenager.

The 16-year-old is in the Hoops' academy setup and has yet to turn professional with the club.

This means that the current Premiership leaders would only be due minor compensation from the global footballing giants.

The report states that Celtic have tried to convince Doak to stay put at the club.

Boss Ange Postecoglou clearly rates his ability, having handed him minutes against Dundee United and Rangers earlier in the year.

However, it's said that the draw of Liverpool has proved too tough to turn down.

The Anfield side boast one of Europe's best academies and have a track record of developing young talents under Jurgen Klopp.

It's said that Doak had attracted interest from various big clubs in Europe.

When the move goes through, Doak will follow a fairly common path for Scotland's top talents coming through by heading down south or abroad.

Billy Gilmour of course left Rangers for Chelsea in the most high profile case.

Liam Morrison also left Celtic to join Bayern Munich, while Manchester City swooped to sign Kilmarnock's Liam Smith and Aston Villa signed Kerr Smith from Dundee United.
