ANGE POSTECOGLOU says that striker Giorgos Giakoumakis will be back for the trip to Livingston on Sunday after missing out his side’s win over St Mirren at Celtic Park last night.

The forward also missed the goalless draw against Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday after picking up an illness, and despite Postecoglou rating his chances of being involved against the Saints as 50/50 on Tuesday, the Greek forward wasn’t able to make the squad.

The Celtic manager is delighted to have him back among his options for the visit to the Tony Macaroni Arena, a venue where Celtic have historically struggled, and where they suffered their last domestic loss back in September.

“We’ll need to recover from this game and then we’ll focus,” Postecoglou said. “We’ve got time to prepare for that.

“We’ve got Giakoumakis back for the weekend as well, which I think will give us some more quality in depth.

“We’ll be ready for it, we know it’s a tough challenge, but I don’t think any game between now and the end of the season isn’t going to be a tough challenge.”

Postecoglou was delighted by the patience shown by his men against St Mirren despite some anxiety from the stands, as goals from Cameron Carter-Vickers and Callum McGregor eventually broke down a stuffy Saints outfit.

“You can understand that,” he said. “The supporters want us to put the game to bed early, but it’s not easy.

“When you are consistently backing up for games, you’re trying to keep the same energy and tempo, opposition teams are sitting deep, you’ve just got to stay disciplined and really focused on the type of football we want to play.

“We know that eventually we can wear teams down, we’ve just got to be ready for it and I thought we were.”
