LIEL ABADA might have grabbed the headlines after the Israeli prvoded the dramatic winner in Celtic's 1-0 win over Dundee United but Jackie McNamara says there is another wide player who caught his eye in the victory for his old club.

The former Scotland internationalist spent 10 years at Parkhead as a player and eventually wore the captain's armband after joining from Dunfermline in 1995.

McNamara watched on as his former team sealed a potentially crucial victory  in the title race as Abada pounced at the death on Saturday, cutting the gap with rivals Rangers to two points ahead of Wednesday's derby.

But it was another winger - 16-year-old Ben Doak, who was brought off the bench for the final 22 minutes as he made his senior debut - who caught his eye.

Doak's driving runs in the final third caused the United defence headaches after the youngster came on and McNamara believes that the teenager has a big future ahead of him.

"I thought he was excellent," McNamara told Celtic TV. "He was direct, the kid's got no fear.

"That's the beauty of young players.

"They've no experience of fear and the stuff that goes with it, they just want to go and play.

"He's an exciting talent. He's got so much pace and directness - it's exciting to watch."
