ANGE POSTECOGLOU has outlined a potential pathway for Daizen Maeda and Tom Rogic to face Rangers.

The duo are currently on international duty with Japan and Australia respectively and could miss the Glasgow derby dependent on their involvement in World Cup qualifiers.

But Postecoglou is holding out hope Maeda and Rogic could play in Wednesday night's derby clash as he revealed a possible return scenario.

The Celtic boss is resigned to losing either star if they play for their national team the day before the derby, but reckons they could be involved for Celtic should they not feature.

Maeda's Japan face Saudi Arabia on Tuesday with Rogic and Australia against Oman on the same day.

But Postecoglou has revealed he could yet include them in his team for the top of the table clash with Rangers if they don't play in the World Cup qualifiers.

He explained to BBC Sportsound: "I think they get back on the day of the game irrespective of my desire to find a supersonic vehicle that will get them here in record time.

"A lot of that will actually depend on whether they actually play or not, if they play the day before then it is impossible for them to play on the night.

"If they are not involved then there is an opportunity to get them back but we will look at that through the week."
