NIR BITTON is out of the Glasgow derby against Rangers after being sent off against Dundee United.

The Israeli midfielder was sent off after receiving a second yellow in the late win at Parkhead.

Bitton was first booked 64 minutes into the match before being given his marching orders with nine minutes left.

However, Celtic players and fans alike were left aggrieved by the decision with Greg Taylor going down before Bitton hauled down Declan Glass on the edge of the area.

The red card decision means Bitton is now ruled out from appearing in Wednesday night's derby against Rangers.

Bitton will serve an automatic one-match suspension for the sending-off under SFA rules which explain a second yellow card results in an automatic suspension.

For a second yellow sending off the rules on suspension read: "Effective immediately to the next match in the Competition in which the sending-off was reported."

Bitton's suspension further adds to selection issues for Ange Postecoglou going into the Glasgow derby with palyers missing through injury and international duty.

Daizen Maeda and Tom Rogic are both currently away with their respective national teams with serious doubts over whether they'll be back in time and in condition to play any part.

Captain Callum McGregor is out with a facial injury he sustained in the Scottish Cup win over Alloa, with Yosuke Ideguchi also sidelined after a horror Mouhamed Niang challlenge in the same match.

Kyogo Furuhashi is also out of action as well as David Turnbull who have both been siderlined for weeks.
